Localização: Descrição:1. SCIENTIFIC AREA: Conservation Science (Cultural Heritage)2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: The candidate must have:
a) A PhD in Conservation Sciences or related areas;
b) Worked in research for at least five years after obtaining the PhD degree, and accumulated expertise in fundamental, advanced & applied research in the science of cultural heritage and its preservation and access; experience in the molecular characterization of artworks based on a multi-analytical approach, contributing for the assessment of an artwork condition; experience in open-access Reference Database for the materials and technologies used in cultural heritage objects
c) A strong peer-reviewed publication record;
d) Demonstrated ability to do independent research;
e) Demonstrated ability to apply for competitive funding
f) Demonstrated ability to supervise graduate students;
g) Demonstrated ability to lead projects;
h) Demonstrated experience in knowledge transfer and working in a museum environment;
i) Fluency in written and spoken English;
j) Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese.
Failure to comply with any of these requirements will result in the elimination of the applicant.3. WORK PLAN: Selected applicants will be responsible for:
a) Research strand on the development of new materials for conservation at REQUIMTE in close collaboration with other researchers from this research unit. The results of this investigation will serve museums, national archives, private collectors and the public by advancing knowledge on cultural heritage objects, for authentication studies, for complex restoration treatments and for halting or minimising the degradation of our cultural heritage. Products and methodologies must respect the integrity and originality of the works, be environment-friendly, effective, safe for workers, affordable and easy to apply;
b) Creation and population of an open-access database containing unique reference materials, standards and research results based on an innovative model for complementary research;
c) Supervising students from different cycles, primarily PhD and MSc students;
d) Actively pursuing research funding;4. RULES AND REGULATIONS: Law nº. 7/2009 of 12 February (Labour Code ), as amended by Law nº 23/2012 of 25 June subsequently corrected by the Declaration of Rectification nº 38/2012 of 23 June. The contract will be written according to the Portuguese current legislation on fixed term contracts and NOVA ID internal standards.5. WORKING LOCATION: The work is to be carried out at the facilities of LAQV-REQUIMTE/ Departamento de Química, FCT-UNL.6. CONTRACT DURATION: The position is for a 12 month-fixed term contract (“contract fixed-term”) under an exclusivity regime, with the possibility of renewal up to the end of the project.7. SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The months gross income, before taxes, will be 3.191,82 EUR under an exclusivity regime. Benefits include social security, meal allowance per working day and 22 days of paid vacation.8. SELECTION METHODOLOGY AND JURY: The Jury responsible for the selection will be composed by Professor Fernando Pina, Prof. Maria João Melo and Prof. João Carlos Lima as effective jurors, and Prof. Ana Ramos and Prof. A. Jorge Parola as substitute jurors. The Assessment criteria will be: a) Quality of CV and adequateness for the targeted research area (50%); b) Motivation and research statement (15%); c) Interview (35%). Only candidates that score 16/20 or higher in each of the criteria a) and b) will be called for interview.9. NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS: The evaluation results will be publicized through display of alphabetical ordered list by final score obtained, posted in a visible and public site at FCT-UNL and disseminated electronically (by email), upon notice to candidates, until 30 days after the deadline for the applications.10.
