We are looking for a full-stack CTO/Lead Developer/Coder/Hacker/Ninja with experience in the Python, Django, Sass, and Javascript languages to join our startup. You will be leading our product development team and engineering efforts in building a scalable platform.

Sherpany offers shareholder relationship software to global enterprises like Nestlé, Novartis, SwissRe, Zurich Insurance, Adecco and acquires new exciting customers every week. Its software enables all shareholders to participate in core decisions and increase the Corporate Governance of their portfolio companies. Sherpany is currently located in Zurich, Switzerland and Lisbon, Portugal.
We are looking for an effective coach and leader for our team in Lisbon who will be a strong member of our executive board. For that, we offer a rewarding compensation package which includes participation in our company equity plan.
Your role is to assure the successful execution of Sherpany’s business mission through development and deployment of our SaaS applications. This requires envisioning the company’s service offerings as a web-based business, leading implementation of web applications, and planning for risk and growth.
Responsibilities
*Strategy & Planning
In partnership with the company’s founders, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s services as a web-based business.This includes identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success.
Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of all web-based services.
*Implementation & Deployment
Select or define the company’s software development methodology.
Establish and supervise the software development process, setting short-term objectives and assessing progress as defined by the selected software development methodology.
Establish and supervise a quality assurance process, including integration and system testing.
Supervise recruitment, training, retention, and organization of all development staff in accordance with the company’s hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements.
*Operational Management
Define and communicate company values and standards for acquiring or developing systems, equipment or software within the company.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies and software development best practices by attending relevant conferences and reading widely (including reading your peers’ blogs).
Position Requirements
University degree in the field of computer science, business administration or another combarable discipline. An advanced degree in one of these fields is a plus.
*Knowledge & Experience
Demonstrated ability to envision web-based services that meet consumer needs or solve business problems.
5+ years experience in managing web application development.
5+ years experience with startup companies.
Hands-on experience in coding, at least with Python & Django and in at least one more popular web application framework.
*Personal Attributes
Proven leadership ability.
Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
Excellent written and oral communication skills (English, German or Portuguese as a plus).
Location
Lisbon, Portugal
Willing to travel to Zurich at least once a quarter
