Localização: PortoDescrição:Admission requirements: Completed PhD in scientific areas relevant to Computer Vision.Workplan: Hyrax is an international project involving several Portuguese institutions and Carnegie Mellon University that aims to crowd-source mobile devices to develop edge clouds. A potential application of this type of technology is to perform crowd-sourced image search on distributed photo galleries associated with events such as sports, celebrations, etc. The objective of the post-doc researcher hired by this scholarship is to understand the state-of-the-art in facial detection and recognition algorithms, and to research how these can be expanded to a distributed computing and database environment such as the one present in edge clouds. The researcher must be able to work with a large, highly multi-disciplinary team, and to publish novel results in high impact conferences and journals.

Não dispensa a consulta do Diário da República (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt).Place of work: The work will be developed at the Instituto de Telecomunicações based at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, under the supervision of Professor Miguel Tavares Coimbra.Grant duration : 6 months . The estimated beginning date is on 15 March 2015 (or soon thereafter). The scholarship is renewable upon performance to a maximum of 15 months.Value for monthly allowance : 1495 Eur , according to table values ??of the scholarships awarded directly by the FCT, in the c ountry ( http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ).
The payment will be made by bank transfer.Selection methods: Selection of the candidates will be performed by evaluation of the submitted documents, namely:
§ Curriculum vitae/Academic performance (measured on a scale of 1 to 20) – 50%
§ Previous experience in the aforementioned areas (measured on a scale of 1 to 20) – 50%
